FAQ
Where are you located?
The Sydney photography studio is located in the inner west Sydney suburb of Camperdown, and is very easy to find. We have plenty of parking available in the surrounding streets and its the neighbouring suburb to Newtown so a great spot to make the day of it! The studio is on the ground floor at 115 Salisbury Road Camperdown, NSW Australia, and the entrance is via Cardigan Lane.
When are you available?
Michelle is generally available Monday to Friday 9am-6pm and some weekends however weekend sessions book quickly. All sessions and consultations are by appointment only.
When do I need to book?
Always try and book well in advance to avoid disappointment, especially school holidays and weekends that book out fast. We require a non-refundable deposit of $500 to secure your booking and this will be credited towards any of your purchases or packages.
What to wear?
A styling wardrobe (clothing and accessories) is included in our Bespoke Portraiture sessions. For all our other sessions, your pre-session consultation will cover styling and wardrobe advice in detail with plenty of guidance and direction. We do, however, encourage you to bring in any special, personal or sentimental items that you may want to incorporate in the shoot.
Is there a best age to photograph?
All ages have their strengths yet Michelle recommends children over 4 years of age for the Bespoke sessions, due to the nature and style of the photography. However, as it is all bespoke, we can always tailor a style to suit you and your child’s needs. From newborn shoots to classic character studies of babies and toddlers, Michelle can photograph them all. She consistently works with children of all ages for a career of 20+ years and is very familiar with the nuances of each stage of childhood. To inquire more about when is the right age and time to capture your little one, please contact Michelle to discuss this further anytime.
Who can I bring to the shoot?
From experience, having too many observers results in less productivity and children become more easily distracted. So please try to keep the attendance to a minimum, preferably one or two adults only or who will be in the session.
When do I get to see my images?
Your images will be ready to view approximately two weeks after your session date. All your images will be carefully edited and prepared by Michelle to present to you at your private in studio viewing.
Do you only photograph children?
Michelle’s specialty is with children, however pets are also a great option! If parents would like to be involved in the session, then we can discuss this at your pre-session consultation with Michelle or when you enquire. With that said we also offer specific family day sessions! Please check our event page for any upcoming dates.
Can I come to view the images on my own?
We highly recommend all decision makers be present at your viewing, and preferably without children. This allows decision makers to not have any distractions, and also gives plenty of time to discuss your artwork with Michelle and to be able to carefully look at the products available. If you cannot make the decision at your first viewing, there may be a second viewing fee.
Do you sell digital files?
With every artwork purchased you will receive the matching digital file for you to share on your family and social networks, to keep or use. We do also sell digital files, but it is recommended to know a good printer to handle your imagery with the love and care required for optimum results.
Can I copy the photographs I have purchased?
Michelle Young Portraiture retains full copyright of all images taken at your photographic session, which means it is a criminal offence to copy, scan, photocopy, reproduce, or email any of the images purchased unless you have written permission. Please see our terms and conditions.
